SUMMARY:Open Air Media Festival
DESCRIPTION:Open Air Media Festival \nLocation:  Big Four Lawn (1001 River Road Louisville\, KY 40202) \nOpen Air Media Festival (OAMF) is excited to announce the 2026 summer program\, a traveling film/video art screening presented in three cities in late May and early June. The program will travel across the Midwest and Southeast bringing artists from across the country to outdoor\, public locations. OAMF is co-organized by Dana Potter\, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the Hite Institute of Art + Design\, University of Louisville\, Louisville\, KY and Zen Cohen\, Assistant Professor of Digital Media at Clemson University\, Clemson\, SC with production assistance from Caleb Payne. \nArtists for this program were curated from a national open call. Participating artists represent 12 U.S. states\, span ages 25 to 72\, and present a wide range of lived experiences. Selected works exhibit a vast spectrum of video art to the public including non-traditional documentary\, mixed media and 3D animation\, narrative\, and non-narrative\, expanding public access to contemporary media art. The 2026 artists are: Israel Lucius Barnes\, Tiffany Carbonneau\, Karl Erickson\, Tyson Gentry\, Laura Iancu\, Sarah Lasley\, Dwayne LeBlanc\, Lex Leto\, Song Lu\, Maggie Murphy\, Emily Sasmor\, clay scofield\, Eric Souther\, Jenelle Stafford\, Courtney Taniguchi\, Roy Taylor\, Michelle Trujillo\, and Masha Vlasova. \nOAMF is defined as public art because it situates contemporary media artworks outside of traditional gallery and cinema contexts and places them directly within freely accessible civic space. Each screening is situated in pedestrian spaces\, inviting spontaneous engagement and fostering a shared cultural experience. Each screening is fully outdoors\, free to attend\, and requires no prior knowledge of contemporary art. \nOpen Air is free and open to the public thanks to generous support from the City of Iowa City Public Art Program\, FilmScene\, Tiger Strikes Asteroid\, Thornback Gallery\, Metro Arts Council\, Waterfront Park\,\n\nTickets: https://ourwaterfront.org/event/open-air-media-festival/
